The 10th of November, the Parliament and the EU Council reached an agreement on the EU financial budget for the period 2021-2027.
The allocation of over 1.8 billion euros combines European funds (1,074.3 billion euros) with the Next Generation Eu temporary recovery (750 billion euros).
As Gunther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, said “The budget will focus resources on needs”. Indeed, resources will be spent to create more job, to deal with climate change and lots of investiment will be devoted to young people and to make Europe safer.
In particular, an ambitious budget of around 589.6 million euros (21%) will finance measures to deal with climate change and to safeguard biodiversity.
In addition, 2.8 billion will go to education and the Erasmus + programme and 58.12 billion will go to agriculture.
